Learn how to get started with Trezor hardware wallet in 10 easy steps. This beginner's guide covers everything from setting up your device to securing your recovery seed.

Purchase a Trezor Device

To get started, purchase a Trezor device from the official Trezor website. Ensure you buy from an authorized seller to avoid counterfeit products. Trezor offers two models: Trezor One and Trezor Model T. Choose the one that best fits your needs.

2. Unbox and Inspect Your Trezor

When your Trezor arrives, unbox it and inspect the contents. The package should include the Trezor device, a USB cable, a recovery seed card, and a user manual. Ensure there are no signs of tampering, such as broken seals or damaged packaging.

3. Connect Trezor to Your Computer

Connect your Trezor device to your computer using the provided USB cable. Visit trezor.io/start to begin the setup process. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the necessary software.

4. Install Trezor Bridge

To enable communication between your Trezor device and your computer, you need to install Trezor Bridge. Download Trezor Bridge from the Trezor website and follow the installation instructions for your operating system.

5. Set Up Trezor Wallet

Once Trezor Bridge is installed, go to wallet.trezor.io to set up your Trezor wallet. Select "Create new wallet" and follow the prompts to initialize your device.

6. Create a New Wallet

During the setup process, you will be prompted to create a new wallet. Confirm that you want to create a new wallet and follow the on-screen instructions. Your Trezor device will generate a unique recovery seed.

7. Secure Your Recovery Seed

Your recovery seed is crucial for accessing your wallet if you lose your Trezor device. Write down the 24-word recovery seed on the provided card and store it in a secure location. Never share your recovery seed with anyone, and do not store it digitally.

8. Set Up a Strong PIN

After securing your recovery seed, you will be prompted to set up a PIN. Choose a strong and unique PIN to protect your Trezor device. This PIN will be required each time you connect your Trezor to a computer.

9. Manage Your Cryptocurrencies

With your Trezor wallet set up, you can now manage your cryptocurrencies. Use the Trezor Wallet interface to send, receive, and monitor your assets. Trezor supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many others.
